Is Cetol DEK finish right for your deck?  Guidelines from Sikkens-ProLuxe:

  1. Are you willing to sand the horizontal boards with 60-80 grit sandpaper for preparation?
  2. Will you apply the first coat to all six sides of the deck boards, saturating all end grains, nail holes and cracks in the wood?
  3. Is your deck well ventilated?
  4. Is your deck a minimum of 2 feet above the ground?
  5. Are the deck floor boards spaced at least 3/16 to 1/4 inch apart?
  6. Is your deck wood free from cracks, splits, rot, and large nail holes?
  7. Is your deck free from areas of moisture (i.e. hot tubs, swimming pools, sprinkler systems, etc.)?

If you answered YES to all of these questions, Cetol DEK Finish is a great choice for your deck.

Otherwise, you should choose another deck finish, such as Sikkens ProLuxe SRD Finish.

IMPORTANT:  Use Wet Samples to choose stain color.

Before purchasing stain, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND testing wet samples of the stain on your home in the color or colors that you are considering—for the following reasons:

  1. Stain color on your computer will look different on your home.
  2. The appearance of a stain color is affected by the wood being stained—due to factors such as wood species, texture, and porosity.
  3. Wet samples of stain are available at no or low cost.
  4. Choosing your stain color by first testing wet samples to know how it will really look on your home will ensure that you get the color that is just right for your home.
